PEOPLE

Sam Simpson

Managing Member & Owner

Born and raised in Leelanau County, Sam has always had an affinity for the wine industry.  After high school he attended Michigan State University where he studied Viticulture and Enology under Dr. Stan Howell, but ultimately graduated in Finance and studied international economics at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.  Upon his father’s untimely death in 2009 Sam and his sister Taylor quit their corporate jobs and moved home to take over the family business and help assist the rapidly growing Michigan Wine Industry into the next phase of international recognition.

Taylor Simpson

Member & Owner

Growing up in the Michigan Wine industry on the Leelanau Peninsula gave Taylor a deep appreciation and love for all things wine. She studied and graduated from the University of Michigan and then moved to Chicago in 2003, where she started a career in wine sales distribution with Southern Wine and Spirits. Upon her father's unexpected passing in 2009, Taylor moved back to Northern Michigan along with her brother Sam to advance her family's business and farm operation with hopes of continuing to grow the current operation and contribute to the growth of the overall Michigan Wine Industry.

Drew Perry

Wine Maker

Upon graduating Michigan State University’s Viticulture and Enology Program, Drew cut his teeth out in Napa Valley in 2005. It wasn’t long until he realized he could make a bigger contribution to a rapidly growing wine industry in his home state and returned to work in Northwest Michigan with Bryan Ulbrich at Left Foot Charley in 2007. After seven years of experience he decided to seize the opportunity to join Sam and Taylor as they expanded the family business. Since working out in Leelanau county he has explored every realm of winemaking possible and strived to continue to refine his craft to best unfurl what it is this region has to offer with world class wine and a growing region unlike anywhere else.

Nick Florip

Farm Manager

Hailing from Leelanau county, Nick has always loved both the natural beauty of the area and industries that thrive in its unique micro climate. Upon graduating from Hope College Nick moved back to the area as a site coordinator at a local non-profit specializing in invasive species removal and youth mentorship. This position was followed by a transition into operations manager for a local hop and high density apple farm. This experience solidified Nick's passion for agriculture and has led him to dive head first into the world of viticulture.
